I'm going to be in NYC later next month, and would love to know if there's anything 'design related' you'd suggest to add to my list of places to visit/things to see. I already know about the Tim Burton show, so that's definitely on my list. I also have a love of architecture and photography and really good iced mochas. I'm likely staying in the Times Square area, or possibly by the old World Trade site.

I hope all is well, I keep reading and enjoying your blog when I can.

Cheers,

Evan

Re: About

Hi Michael,

Great blog! I've been using the site as an artist and have my work there, and am trying to support. Basically, the site allows artists from all over the world to connect, display their portfolios, and sell their work (with no commission taken). The site gives artists a free gigabyte of space to showcase their portfolios, allows you to stream audio and video works, lets you create live personal broadcasts, and translates any writing into ten different languages. If you could take the time to visit the site, and if you like it too, let your readers know about it, and even sign up yourself or link to it on your site it would be greatly appreciated! We are trying to make a go of helping out artists everywhere and are trying to get the word out, so please help us out if you like the site after checking it out!

Thank you!

Re: About

Hey guys please have a look at my new project BEHIND THE WEBSITE a new ways to analize a website, through the illustrations, please let me what do you think about. www.ricardogimenes.com/blog
Cheers,
Ricardo

Re: About

suparabbit.tumblr.com might be worht a shout

Re: About

Subject: Wolff Olins Launches Beauty Brand Based on New Molecule

Hi there,

I thought you might be interested in the print ads and package designs for Living Proof, a new beauty brand launched last week that used the discovery of a new molecule to create an award-winning "no frizz" product: http://flickr.com/photos/wo...

Living Proof received Allure's Beauty Breakthrough Award and is the first beauty brand to be sold globally at all Sephora outlets.

All ads and marketing collateral were developed by Wolff Olins, an NYC branding agency, who handled brand strategy, company and product naming, service approach, identity, packaging, point-of-sale and communications.

Below is the official launch announcement. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Jelena
Attention for Wolff Olins New York

P: 646-736-0112
F: 212-625-1300
www.attentionusa.com
www.attentionusa.wordpress.com

Brains. Beauty. Brand.

New York -March 5, 2009- Wolff Olins, one of the world’s leading brand consultancies, today announced details about their involvement in the concept, strategy, craft and launch of the new beauty brand, Living Proof.

Living Proof was founded in 2004 by Polaris Venture Partners co-founder Jon Flint on the premise that there have been few true innovations in beauty. He teamed up with fellow Polaris partner, Amir Nashat, MIT scientists Dr. Bob Langer and Dr. Dan Anderson as well as renowned stylists Ward Stegerhoek and Mitch DeRosa to find altogether new solutions to every day beauty frustrations. Today, the company is comprised of leading scientists and beauty veterans and is led by President and CEO Rob Robillard, formerly Worldwide General Manager of Kiehl’s Since 1851and Senior Vice President of Marketing of L’Oreal Paris.

After one year of dedicated research, the team of scientists discovered the PolyfluoroEster molecule, the first new anti-frizz technology in over 30 years. The new molecule is smaller than traditional frizz-fighting ingredients and instantly fills in gaps and blocks each strand’s cuticle, preventing moisture from penetrating the hair shaft. With frizz solved, Living Proof is working on a number of other solutions to common beauty frustrations. Stay tuned.

Throughout the evolution and conception of No Frizz, Wolff Olins worked closely to shape the brand’s development, working on everything from the brand strategy and name, product naming, service approach, identity, packaging, point-of-sale and communications. The branding firm touched nearly every part of the experience.

“Our involvement with Living Proof is a perfect example of the depth of activity and influence we can have with our clients”, said Todd Simmons, Executive Creative Director at Wolff Olins. “Throughout the entire process, we looked at every possible touch point and worked hand in hand with everyone in the business, even engaging the MIT scientists in our process. We’re absolutely thrilled with the result as it reflects a seamless collaboration."

“We are just as proud of Living Proof’s commitment to efficacy and the way they treat consumers as we are of the way the packaging turned out or anything else. This is true branding”, continued Simmons.

Rob Robillard, President and CEO of Living Proof, commented, “Success in a start-up is about moments and decisions that will change the destiny of the company. We’ve been lucky thus far to have a few of those moments. One major one is having chosen to work with Wolff Olins.”

About Living Proof

Living Proof was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and created for the purpose of solving the toughest beauty challenges by inventing efficient, single-purpose formulas based on entirely new molecules and breakthrough technologies. They are a team of scientists and beauty authorities brought together by a shared aspiration: to challenge the status quo and end the common beauty frustrations of people everywhere - once and for all.

About Wolff Olins

Founded in 1965, Wolff Olins is one of the world’s leading brand consultancies. It has 140 people in London, New York and Dubai. In a world of caution and conservatism, Wolff Olins is ambitious for clients. In a time of anxiety and cynicism, Wolff Olins is extremely optimistic for the world. Wolff Olins works with a vast array of the world’s most recognized brands including Unilever, PwC, Target, Microsoft, (RED), GE, Tate, Sony Ericsson, New York City, Beeline, and London 2012.

Re: About

Hello,

I just came across your site and love your cool vibe. Wanted to show you what I'm up to with my sustainably harvested furniture pieces. Please visit my website and share if you like. Keep up the great work.

Robin Wade
robinwadefurniture.com

Re: About

Hey check this out sooo cool! I work at the Cincinnati Art Museum and we currently have two exhibitions that I think would interest you, and your readers.
First, is China Design Now, straight from the Victoria and Albert, London (were it was organized), and Ryan McGinness, Aesthetic Comfort.
China Design Now takes the visitor through three cities:
Shenzhen (Frontier City): graphic design, from the early 1990s to the present day
Shanghai (Dream City): fashion and lifestyle, from the mid-1990s to present day
Beijing (Future City), architecture and urban planning, from 2001 to the present day
Young Ho Chang designed, from MIT's architecture department, this journey giving the exhibition space a very "otherworldly" feel that fits with the very modern design coming out of China.

You may have already heard of Ryan McGinness's work, and if so you have probably watched as his work became more and more layered. This exhibit combines his now extensive use of layering and application of very saturated colors with an incredible installation; the pieces go off the canvas onto the walls, which are painted black, and the entire room is black-lit. When walking in this exhibition it feels as if one is entering a psychedelic circus of color, and light, that people of all ages will enjoy.

I hope this has sparked some interest in our exhibitions, and our museum. If you'd like to come visit, I'd be happy to arrange for some complimentary tickets to the China Design Now exhibition. The McGinness exhibit and our general admission is always free.

Sincerely,

Re: About

Hi,

Please find attached a very famous 1970's typeface I have redesigned called Yagi Link Double, now renamed Miyagi.
